The country flag is a very influential symbol that binds the people it embodies. Regardless of whatever race, religion, creed or beliefs, a person always finds refuge whenever he sees his country flag. And whenever it is raised on flag ceremonies, he willingly gives honor to it by putting his right hand on his chest and by heartily singing the national anthem. It may seem strange though that an object can give a great effect on the person who believes in it. But people do not necessarily think this way because they respect their flags and they are willing to do anything and everything to honor it.
The flag represents the ideals and beliefs of the people having faith on it. And they say, if you would really want to get to know one foreigner to the other, you must start by understanding the meaning of their flags. This could probably be true because one’s flag is an image of the history of the country and its people. For instance the American flag, it symbolizes the unity of the 50 states that it embodies and it likewise reminds every American that they are free. Yet considering the number of states comprising the country, one would find it difficult to understand the different character that each state possesses. But one should not be weary because he can always turn to the state flags. These flags reveal the different histories and regional influences of every state. And by simply understanding the meaning of each state flag, you will know what the people have undergone and why the state became a part of the United States of America.
